Chaos of corona: 150000 COVID deaths in the US

On Wednesday, the US reached 150000 COVID deaths and the deaths per day has been the highest since spring. The coronavirus is raging like a wildfire in the US, and it won’t stop.

On 29th Feb this year, there was a report of the first COVID death in the US. Fifty-four days later 50000 people were dead from coronavirus.

It took another 34 days to add another 100000 to that number. And 62 days later the US has reached the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the world.

According to a report by the state Department of Public Health, states like California are seeing their all-time highest deaths rates. On Wednesday, approximately 200 people died in a single day.

And just last week 159 people died in California from the coronavirus. All around America, the daily average death rate rose to 1000 deaths per day. It’s the highest America has seen since 2nd June 2020.

According to the Johns Hopkins data, the average percentage of deaths were at least 10 per cent higher than last week in 29 states.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is warning the American officials that the death rates may skyrocket into multiple of hundreds and thousands.

AAMC President and CEO, Dr David Skorton, shared that if we want to decrease death rates and put an end to the pandemic, we will have to take decisive and coordinated actions.

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in the South and West of the US, hospitals are full and overflowing patients, and death rates are increasing.

Amid Chaos, Trump wants to reopen schools

While the United States is swamped up in the chaos of coronavirus and the death rate keeps spiking up, President Trump wants to reopen the schools and get things moving and back to normal.

The AAMC has written an urging document to Trump saying that Trump should invoke the Defense Protection Act. It this or come up with other means to solve the COVID problems like shortage of testing equipment and personal protection equipment.

The document also suggests that testing should go upto 2 million per day if we want to end the pandemic. AAMC says that testing and face-covering of asymptomatic carriers is crucial in stopping the pandemic.

Dr Fauci, on the other hand, thinks that reopening of schools might be a good curve learning for him and his team as they can study the effects of COVID on school children.

Fauci said in an interview that, reopening, schools would help them understand how children experience and spread the virus. He believes that reopening of schools will disclose new information about the virus.

According to CNN Health, on the brighter side, in some states, face-covering is reducing the spread of the coronavirus.
