Dr. Larry Brilliant's COVID-19 predictions

In the 1970s, Dr Larry Brilliant was a part of the World Health Organization team that helped eradicate smallpox. And now Dr Brilliant has some concerning predictions about the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Brilliant, we will be dealing with the coronavirus, and it’s effect for the next four years at least. With the way things are going right now, Brilliant says that we are in for a bad and rocky ride.

Soon people will have to show a small yellow card at the important that proves that they are immune to COVID-19. And people, where people gather in groups like restaurants, stadiums and schools, will have stations for quick and inexpensive coronavirus testing.

Known scientists are in the process of developing cheap and effective COVID tests that give the results within 10 minutes. These tests haven’t yet been approved. But public health officials are positive that soon we will have these tests.

Brilliant says that the world will be fighting the pandemic for the next three to four years. This is because the hotspots for the virus keep shifting and spreading from country to country.

There is still hope during the pandemic

It’s not all doom and gloom. Many countries, including America, are in the process of developing vaccines and anti-bodies against the coronavirus. A few vaccines in the US have reached phase three trials.

Once these vaccines have cleared phase three trials, a minimum of 100 million vaccines will be available by the end of the year. Once we have the vaccine, we can then control the spread of Sars-Cov-2 virus, the virus that cases COVID-19.

However, until then, Dr Brilliant says that we need to follow the necessary precautions like social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands and others.

As the number of deaths due to COVID-19 keep increasing in the US, it is more important than ever to take the necessary precautions. Building a strong immune system is helping in fighting over viruses and pathogens.

A total lockdown will harm the economy as it did before. Dr Brilliant shares that if all 50 states in the US follow precautionary measures, there won’t be a need for a total lockdown. (1)
